The brief glimpse of spring was pleasant while it lasted. But forecasters have warned that the milder temperatures enjoyed by much of the country this weekend could soon be replaced by snow.
Wintry showers are expected across northern Scotland, the east coast and the hills and mountains of northern England as a brief cold snap takes hold.
Andrew Sibley, of the Met Office, said the change in conditions would not cause significant disruption but that it would be noticeably colder across most of the country.
“Frequent snow showers will be coming into northwest Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of northern England on Monday,” he said.
“We could seen up to 10cm of snow in parts of northern Scotland.
“Sleety showers might be seen in central areas and further south but nothing on the scale we saw last month.”
