I'm not sure if this is a spoof email, but I thought it was good enough to post as a blog and I hope a few of you can report back to me on where this will go.....
Climate Realists Contact: UC-Irvine climate change presentation
Hello, this is Kurt Solander. I am a PhD student in the Department of Earth System Science at UC-Irvine. I am working on the development of a class in Science Communication this spring where students in science will be exposed to viewpoints on climate change that are likely different from their own.
The goal of this class is for students to interact with those who possess these alternative opinions so that both parties can move towards a higher understanding of each other.
This will ultimately lead towards achieving the most appropriate solution to better satisfy the given agenda of both parties much sooner.
Towards this end, I would like to cordially invite you or a member of your staff to present your viewpoint on climate change to the class.
Presentation length would be 30-45 minutes with 15-45 minutes of Q&A.
The format of the lecture would be entirely up to you and the classroom will be powerpoint and/or video friendly. Expected class size would be 15-20 people.
Anticipated date and time would be any Thursday during the month of May or early June from 2-320 pm.
The speaker would also be invited to a free lunch hosted by some of the students and/or professor of the class prior to the talk.
Please let me know of your interest and availability at your earliest convenience.
