This is a short and direct letter to the editor of the Tennessean by Kenneth Ray Brentwood concerning the warming of some of the planets in our solar system taking place at the same time as Earth.
To the Editor:
Last week, NASA released data indicating that Jupiter is undergoing “large-scale climate change, as the giant planet is getting warmer near the equator.” That makes at least four of the nine planets in our solar system that appear to be warming, Mars, Pluto and, of course, Earth having already been reported as doing so.
What do these planets have in common that could be causing them all to warm at the same time? It’s not people. It’s not the internal combustion engine. It’s not coal-burning power plants. It’s not even aerosol deodorant spray.
Wait, I have a thought. Is it just possible that global warming on Earth and elsewhere is being caused by the sun? Gosh, that would make destroying the U.S. economy and diminishing the freedom of the citizenry in order to ward off climate change a pointless and really stupid thing to do.
Global warming? Blame the sun, not earthlings
