This story by James Randerson the science correspondent from The Guardian labels 2008 as being the 10th hottest year. What he fails to inform the readers is that CO2 is still rising and yet world temperatures are falling, this is the missing piece of the jigsaw or the 600 pound gorilla in the room. You would have thought 10 years worth of "human emissions" could have added enough CO2 to the planet, enough to surpass the warming high set in 1998. But no, James lets the readers believe that our climate is out of control and things will get worse. The only thing that will get worse is the label of being a science correspondent for The Guardian, enough of this nonsense James, it's the SUN that warms and cools the planet NOT MAN.
"Human influence, particularly emission of greenhouse gases, has greatly increased the chance of having such warm years. Comparing observations with the expected response to manmade and natural drivers of climate change it is shown that global temperature is now over 0.7C warmer than if humans were not altering the climate," said Dr Peter Stott of the Met Office.
