Fire James Hansen concerning yet another one of his protests against "Coal"
Get Arrested with James Hansen to stop MTR!
On June 23rd Dr. James Hansen, a leading climate scientists and environmental hero, will join community members in Coal River Valley, West Virginia to launch a year of activism to end mountaintop removal coal mining. Blowing the tops off of mountain ranges to harvest dirty coal harms the people and places of Appalachia, destroys the economic potential of the Appalachian Mountains for clean energy opportunities and furthers the burning of climate killing coal.
Dr. Hansen and the people of West Virginia need you and as many friends as you can muster to come to West Virginia on June 23rd to help build the wave of activism needed to stop mountaintop removal this year.
The FaceBook group has many leading "Climate Realists" including
David Archibald, Viscount Monckton Of Brenchley, Paul Biggs Joseph D'Aleo, Richard Courtney, Tom Nelson, James Spann, Jennifer Marohasy.
This was mentioned on the
WUWT site yesterday:
Your tax dollars at work. I’ve said it before, and I’ll keep saying it: FIRE THIS GUY.
Oh there will be those who say “but he’s doing it as a private citizen”.
I preemptively call BS on that.
Why? Well it’s because the U.S. Taxpayer has been an “enabler” for this. Hansen wouldn’t be there if not for the publicly funded work via NASA.
As a private citizen, his opinion is worth nearly nothing. As head of NASA GISS fancifully acting as a private citizen, his opinion and presence are worth boatloads of publicity.
You can’t separate GISS from his persona any more than you can expect Barack Obama to show up someplace “as a private citizen” and endorse something while he holds office.
The premise is absurd.
There should be a counter protest, if any of you know people in the area please put them in contact with each other, there seems to be no real voice against James Hansen, lets try and find one!
Massey CEO Challenges Protester to Global Warming Debate
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The head of Massey Energy is challenging a mountaintop removal coal mining opponent to a public debate to discuss the issues of global warming and the West Virginia economy.
Massey CEO Don Blankenship wants to debate with Dr. James Hansen, a NASA scientist, who is planning to protest outside a Massey owned mine next week in Raleigh County.
Hansen will be joined by film actress Daryl Hannah and former West Virginia Secretary of State and Congressman Ken Hechler Tuesday at Marsh Fork Elementary in Raleigh County. The publicity for this event Tuesday states that it will begin a year of activism to stop mountaintop removal mining.
“While I don’t recall anyone inviting out of state environmental protestors from San Francisco and a Hollywood actress to Massey’s property on June 23rd, I’m more than willing to invite Dr. Hansen to have a factual discussion about coal mining in West Virginia, which provides thousands of jobs in the state and provides low-cost energy to millions of Americans," Don Blankenship stated in a news release sent out Friday afternoon.
Blankenship stated he'd rather have a productive dialogue instead of "publicity arrests" next week during this protest.
Blankenship noted a protest at a mine earlier this week in Twilight in Boone County led to more than a dozen arrests and a diversion for state troopers.
