There's nothing like a celebration of hard work in the heart of Appalachia to energize us for the fight to save the American Dream!
We took a road trip into the hills of West Virginia over the weekend for a party on a resurfaced coal mine -- the "Friends of America" rally in Holden, not far from the state capital of Charleston -- and had a fabulous time. We couldn't think of a better way to spend our Labor Day than with the people who have made America great by extracting coal from this beautiful land so millions of people can prosper thanks to cheap energy.
It was also interesting to see the reclaimed mining site. Environmentalists love to show mountaintop mining at its worst. They love to show the "moonscape phase" but never show the area after it has been reclaimed.
