The following quote has come from NASA concerning an article about a falling satellite.......
As of Friday Sept. 16, 2011, NASA’s Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, or UARS, is expected to re-enter Earth’s atmosphere September 23, plus or minus a day. The re-entry of UARS is coming a day earlier than previously predicted because of a sharp increase in solar activity this week. Solar effects from the sun can create an extra drag on satellites in space because they can heat the Earth’s atmosphere, causing it to expand, agency officials have said.
This stuck me as a rather odd thing to say, according to NASA the solar energy from the Sun has little effect on our planet, and yet the solar effect can cause a satellite to drag and expand the atmosphere! So what effect does the Sun's Solar energy have on our planet, does it change our atmosphere as well or is it just the falling Satellite's, answers on a post card please NASA
