In a recent article by Charles Greene from SpaceDaily.Com Current warming sharpest climate change in 5,000 years: study. We exclaimed "How much do they pay these guys and what are they on?"

This was the reply from Dr. Richard Courtney, a UN IPCC expert reviewer and a UK-based climate and atmospheric science consultant...

I do not know the answer to those questions, but it is simple to refute the assertion of "Current warming sharpest climate change in 5,000 years" as it applies to global temperature. And in the AR4 the IPCC blatantly misrepresented data in an attempt to disguise the fact that there is nothing unusual about the rate of recent global warming.

My testimony before the House Energy and Air Quality Subcommittee
by Ross McKitrick

Dear Colleagues

Following my testimony before the House Energy and Air Quality Subcommittee in Washington last summer, chairman John Dingell sent me a letter asking a set of follow-up questions. I am told by a staffer in DC that this was somewhat unusual because the deadline for on-the-record questions closed a long time ago. However...

October 2008 Possibly Set for Record Sea Ice Extent Increase Rate
What is the reason behind the fact that “[Arctic] sea ice area [is] approaching the edge of normal standard deviation“? It’s because October 2008 is set to break all records in the daily rate of increase in sea ice extent in the Arctic, that’s why.

This extract from New Scientist by Anil Ananthaswamy links into the article from PhysicsWorld.com Solar activity could dictate river flow

Sunspot activity may be linked to rainfall
THE sun is nearly 150 million kilometres away, but it seems to have Earth's rivers on a leash. The flow of a huge South American river - and thus the rainfall that feeds it - appears to rise and fall with the number of sunspots.

Global Warming Talk Is All Just Hot Air
by Phil Brennan

For a lot of years when I worked in presidential and congressional elections, we lost. Like most of my colleagues, I joined in the finger pointing, blaming the people in charge for running inept campaigns and suggesting that what had not been done was the reason for the losses.

by William Day

A recent letter repeated the claim that carbon dioxide is a major cause of global warming. On the contrary, it is now clear this idea is political rather than science-based fact. More than 32,000 scientists and engineers have disagreed strongly.

Michael Crichton: Environmentalism As Religion

From Bloomberg News Michael Crichton, the best-selling author of science-infused thrillers including ``Jurassic Park'' and ``The Andromeda Strain,'' has died. He was 66. Crichton died yesterday in Los Angeles ``after a courageous and private battle against cancer,'' according to an announcement on his Web site. It said Crichton's works ``challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us.'' In addition to his books, Crichton created the hit television show ``ER.'' In recent years, the Harvard University and Harvard Medical School graduate was known as a high-profile doubter about the threat posed by global warming. His 2004 book ``State of Fear'' conjured a group of eco-terrorists trying to sow panic over the topic. ``In my view, our approach to global warming exemplifies everything that is wrong with our approach to the environment,'' he said in a 2005 speech at the National Press Club in Washington. ``We are basing our decisions on speculation, not evidence.

Michael Crichton: Environmentalism As Religion

Image AttachmentThis was not the first discussion of environmentalism as a religion, but it caught on and was widely quoted. Michael explains why religious approaches to the environment are inappropriate and cause damage to the natural world they intend to protect.

I have been asked to talk about what I consider the most important challenge facing mankind, and I have a fundamental answer. The greatest challenge facing mankind is the challenge of distinguishing reality from fantasy, truth from propaganda. Perceiving the truth has always been a challenge to mankind, but in the information age (or as I think of it, the disinformation age) it takes on a special urgency and importance.
