August was one of the nastiest months I can remember: torrential rain; a hailstorm or two; cold, bitter winds; and mists. But we are accustomed to such weather in England. Lord Byron used to say that an English summer begins on July 31 and ends on Aug. 1. He called 1816 "the year without a summer." He spent it gazing across Lake Geneva, watching the storms, with 18-year-old Mary Shelley. The lightening flickering across the lake inspired her Frankenstein, the tale of the man-made monster galvanized into life by electricity.

Lindzen, confirms how Al Gore and his minions used Stalinist tactics to subvert, suborn and corrupt a whole branch of science, citing chapter and verse in his report entitled "Climate Science: Is it currently designed to answer questions?" His answer: A resounding "NO!"

Southern Cal Heat and Global Warming. A Connection?

The one unfortunate outcome of the release of this study has been that quite a few news outlets only lead with the global warming aspect as the cause. In reality JPL even states that much of the warming has come from the urban heat island effect. Of course that is not as sexy or politically correct as global warming. But it is a good study and does show the effects of urbanization, really anywhere in the country or world, on the weather.

Climate conundrum

Just because it's been cooler, doesn't mean climate change has taken a break. Jon Mittelstadt, science and operations officer at the Pendleton National Weather Service station agreed the weather's been cooler in Eastern Oregon. The cooler temperatures and greater snowpack this year are related to a cyclic phenomenon that is far more regular, and in some ways more extreme, than climate change.

The quiet Sun

The debate continues over what the effect of known changes in the Sun's activity have on the Earth. As the primary source of heat and light and energy, it sustains life on the planet, and variations in its output can be expected to influence climate in significant ways. A common example of this is the 11- and 22-year cycles of sunspot activity, during which the number of dark visible spots on the Sun's surface varies between maximum and minimum values (which are different for each cycle). Higher numbers of sunspots are evidence of a more active Sun.

Fraud of Global Warming

The catastrophic Global Warming hypothesis fails to explain the reality of the last one hundred years. Half of our modern warming occurred from 1905–1940, when carbon dioxide levels were still quite low. The net warming since 1940 is a minuscule 0.2 degrees Celsius. An interlude of global cooling occurred in the 1950s and 1960s, when CO2 levels were increasing. It totally fails to explain the absence of warming in the last ten years, despite a continuing rapid increase in CO2 concentration.
