Sorry we didn't mention the storms, says the BBC: Weatherman apologises on air after predicting sun and ignoring official forecasts of rain - by Tamara Cohen and Lucy Osborne - Daily Mail
If you thought the weather forecast was too good to be true, you were probably right.
The BBC has been forced to apologise on air for ignoring official weather predictions and forecasting sun when rain was on the way.
Forecasters stuck to their own assessment of the weather and disregarded stormy warnings from the Met Office – and as a result, many viewers were caught unawares when the heavens opened in parts of the country yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon, weatherman Philip Avery made an embarrassed apology for the errors on the BBC News channel.
These two Front Page Headline articles from the Daily Express by Nathan Rao only have a few days between them....this is what Jonathan Powell had to say about HIS May forecast on the Daily Express on the 15th May "It looks like this is going to continue well into June. Summer is really on hold, with no sign of it in the near future... and on the right also by Nathan Rao from the Daily Express on the 19th MayJonathan Powell had this to say.. “We will get a glimpse of summer next week with temperatures reaching 73F in the South.
It's little wonder people don't take longe range weather forecast seriously....I can't help but think if being a long range weather forecaster saying cold one day and then hot another is such a difficult thing to do.....is that why the Daily Express promote him and is that why Jonathan Powell's Positive Weather service stopped last year only to start again this year as Jonathan Powell Vantage Weather Services?
Jonathan Powell went on to say the following about the rest of May and the Summer in the UK....GR
The Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman has called a meeting of water companies, farmers and experts to discuss ways of tackling the problem. This winter has been the driest for 40 years. East Anglia, the East Midlands and the South East are the worst affected. Restrictions on water use for households and businesses could be introduced, unless there is significant rainfall soon. Pauline Smith from the Environment Agency said: "We've had two dry winters now, and as a consequence of that, reservoirs haven't refilled, underground water stores haven't refilled, and it means we are heading towards a summer that could be quite difficult." The 'drought summit' - organised by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs - will meet on Monday.
"The Govt, Environment Agency and some water companies say they are worried about potential drought conditions developing this year, however they appear to be not interested in knowing whether such conditions might actually develop.
"The Met Office are the Government's advisers yet have failed to forecast ANY of the extreme seasons/months since 2007 - and in fact have been consistently diametrically wrong (remember those supposed 'barbecue summers' which turned into floods and the supposed 'mild winter months' which turned out record cold).
"WeatherAction correctly forecast the key features in all the extreme months/seasons since 2007 while the Met Office failed. The relative successes being 7 to zero.

(i) There are a number of very foolish ignorant churlish remarks some from people I thought better of but nearly all from the usual dishonest standard Met / warmist freaks, which should be dealt with.
(ii) Nevertheless the main point of posting there is to get through to people who say nothing and need to be informed of the unique applicability of our forecasts to decision making and better warnings. Real WeatherAction users KNOW what they have to say.
The above YouTube and comments posted in February this year displays some images from the UK hot summer of 1976 showing people collecting water in buckets and signs placed from water companies to save water.
So far the historic data and reasoning is that 2012 will again be another very dry year for the South of England and we will again see similar images and warnings, but with one big difference, if I am not mistaken, and that is a full assault on the "Climate Realists" who have stood up to the "man made" climate change industry.
The message against us will be something like...."man made" co2 is responsible for the UK drought and water shortage and if we don't do something now we will expect more of the same.....it will also be put forward as further proof that the world is heating up, and they told us so.... etc.
The latest news reports about the expected UK drought paints a picture of a long term dry period that will last until at least Christmas - BBC News link
First question is "how can the Environment Agency know this long range projection for the remainder of the year" without any consultation with the worlds leading long range weather forecaster Piers Corbyn!
The Met Office have given up long range weather forecasts and only produce a monthly report! So who is giving the forecast of a drought until Christmas?
If word ever gets around that Piers Corbyn company (Weatheraction.com) who specializes in long range weather forecasts was not used or consulted in this matter, and that for the past few Summers and Winters WeatherAction.com have been extremely accurate with their advise to clients with long range weather forecasts and that it would have softened the impact of the drought order for the UK, heads will roll!
Questions will have to be asked as to why Piers's company was not used in this long range forecast that is now to continue until at least Christmas.
The people in the UK (an estimate of 32 million) in the drought region (above) would appear not to have been given best advise on this issue, all because Piers Corbyn does not support "Man Made" climate change and also does not agree with the way the Met Office calculate long range weather forecasts.
The below article was produced in February by John O'Sullivan and contains some relevant comments with this in mind...GR
The MetO-BBC much trumpeted burst of summer ready for the Olympic ceremony 27th July looks doomed to turn into the deluges Piers Corbyn ,WeatherAction, predicted 42 days ahead – and which Boris Johnson Mayor of London reported in The Telegraph.
Piers says: “Our forecasts have been soundly beating all-comers. I offered to BBC to explain what shifts the jet stream, and announce Olympic weather and when the rains will properly end.
They and the Govt are not interested and are hell-bent to hide the truth from the public and propagate silly forecasts and the failed methods and delusional nonsense of CO2-warmism.
