Im not certain about the timing of this event, in as much as, was this before or after the Tropical Storm "power up" on Sunday the 23rd.
There has been a few solar events in the past few days and to pinpoint the exact one for the recent Tropical Storm "power up" is proving difficult. The following report is from SpaceWeather.com. I must stress that although this article and video states the recent CME is NOT Earth facing, that does NOT mean that the Earth's climate is not changed in some way from this event. The "Solar Climate Change" depends on the location of the area of the Sun that is facing Earth i.e when there is an eruption on the Sun many areas of the Sun respond with extra activity, it's this secondary activity that produces changes in the Earth's weather patterns.
FARSIDE EXPLOSION - SpaceWeather.com: An active region on the farside of the sun exploded on Sept. 23rd, hurling a bright coronal mass ejection over the sun's eastern limb. Orbiting at the L1 Lagrange Point, the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) recorded the above expanding cloud.
A powerful earthquake struck a densely populated region of Uzbekistan on Wednesday killing at least 13 people and injuring dozens more.
Eyewitnesses described how the 6.1 Richter earthquake hit the Ferghana Valley shortly after midnight.
"Everybody was afraid. Everything was shaking," Dilaffrus Muminova, a Ferghana resident, said.
"It lasted two or three minutes, if not more."
As well as being home to some of Uzbekistan’s largest factories, the Uzbek government considers the Ferghana Valley a breeding ground for militant Islamists and a tinderbox of ethnic rivalries and fighting.
SpaceWeather.com...CME IMPACT: As expected, a CME hit Earth's magnetic field on Jan. 24th at approximately 1500 UT (10 am EST). Geomagnetic storms are likely in the hours ahead. If it's dark where you live, go outside and look for auroras.
In Lofoton, Norway, the CME's arrival produced a surge in ground currents outside the laboratory of Rob Stammes:
18th September news report from The Telegraph ....A strong earthquake shook northeastern India and Nepal on Sunday night, killing at least 16 people, damaging buildings and sending MPs in Nepal's capital running into the streets.
The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 6.9, struck at 6:10pm local time and was felt across northern and eastern India, including in the capital of New Delhi. It triggered at least two aftershocks of magnitude 6.1 and 5.3, Indian seismology official R.S. Dattatreyan said. He warned more aftershocks were possible...(click source for more)
15th September news report from SpaceWeather.com....INCOMING CME: Yesterday, Sept. 14th, an eruption near sunspot 1289 hurled a CME in the general direction of Earth. Analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab expect the cloud to deliver a glancing blow to our planet's magnetic field on Sept 17th around 04:30 UT. High-latitude magnetic storms are possible when the CME arrives...(click source for more)
At least 78 people have died and thousands of houses have been flooded after torrential rains, storms and landslides hit Russia's Krasnodar region near the Black Sea, according to local police.
The Emergencies Ministry said an average month's rain has fallen in the region within just a few hours. Television footage showed flooded streets and people scrambling onto rooftops.
Sixty-seven bodies including that of a 10-year-old were found in the region's Krymsk district, while nine others died in the Black Sea resort town of Gelendzhik and two in the port of Novorossiisk over the past two days, regional police spokesman Igor Zhelyabin said.
Local Emergencies Ministry officials said over a thousand rescue workers are involved in rescue operation in the region.
The SECOND Tropical Storm "Power Up" of the October "New Moon" Period took place today, "Paul" went to a Cat3 indicating that the Sun has become even more active and that Earth weather systems and storms will have solar enhancements, making them more powerful then standard Meteorology can forecast.
There is now a higher then average chance of M6+ Earthquakes and Volcanic activity...more to follow.
Note: On Thursday 11th October we mentioned that this period (New Moon) and two others (Perigee and Lunar Nodal Crossing) are part of a group of powerful solar/lunar events that are spread out over a time frame that ends on the 21st October.
NEIAFU, TONGA (BNO NEWS) -- A strong earthquake struck just off the Pacific island nation of Tonga on late Saturday evening, seismologists said, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The 6.7-magnitude earthquake at 11:08 p.m. local time (1008 GMT) was centered about 78 kilometers (48 miles) west of Neiafu, a town on the island of Vava'u. It struck about 129.4 kilometers (80.4 miles) deep, making it an earthquake with intermediate depth, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The USGS said no damage was to be expected but estimated that some 123,000 people living on islands near the epicenter may have felt light to moderate shaking. Several residents on a nearby island confirmed they felt light shaking, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
Two NASA satellites have provided infrared and rainfall data that has shown Tropical Storm Sanvu continues to intensify as it heads toward Iwo To, Japan. NASA's Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite has scanned rainfall rates, and NASA's Aqua satellite has provided a look at cloud temperatures which indicates where the strongest thunderstorms and heaviest rainfall is occurring....
...Sanvu is predicted to intensify further and become the first western Pacific typhoon of 2012. One factor that is helping Sanvu continue to intensify is the warm sea surface temperatures at 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 Celsius).
The current forecast track takes it just east of Iwo To and Chichi Jima, which may experience typhoon conditions on May 25 and 26, respectively...Click phys.org link for more
CHANCE OF FLARES: Sunspot AR1465 has developed a 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field that harbors energy for strong flares. NOAA forecasters estimate a 20% chance of M-class eruptions during the next 24 hours. Because the active region is located on the Earthside of the sun, any flares from AR1465 will likely be geoeffective.
Even without a strong eruption from AR1465, ionization waves are already rippling through Earth's upper atmosphere. Dave Gradwell of Birr, Ireland, recorded a series of sudden ionospheric disturbances (SIDs) on April 27th
