The UK Government’s chief scientist has warned time delays in the climate system means that greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere now will determine the weather the world experiences for the next 25 years. The head of the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF), however, said he is sceptical about anyone being able to predict what the weather would be like in the future.
Sir John Beddington said climate change is one of the things he has been trying to bring to the Government’s attention but believes it is not talked about enough. He also noted the climate and weather we’re experiencing now comes from greenhouse gases that were in the atmosphere 25 years ago.
He said the international community’s failure to agree binding targets for cutting carbon emissions meant problems were being stored up for the future. He told BBC Radio 4: “They may reach agreement and they may start to reduce greenhouse gases in the next five years, or it may be a little longer. But they are still climbing and when that increase is reversed, we will be left with the weather and the climate for the next 25 years from whenever that happens.”

The "outgoing" UK Government's chief scientific adviser Prof Sir John Beddington can be listened here talking to Pallab Ghosh with his...you name it...it must be "man made" co2 approach....how he has lasted as long as he has in his current position I will never know!
The sooner Sir John steps down the better...IMHO he is at best a very ignorant man in regard to his privileged position advising the UK Government on how our climate works. He states you can't draw any conclusion on any one weather event and then with his next breath states how can you have one year dry and then another one wet! As if the climate is not meant to do things like that!
What has been his downfall is that he did not explain how the "science" of climate change works....how can you have over 16 years of no warming and 16 years of extra co2 Sir John?
The UK government's chief scientist has said that there is already enough CO2 in the atmosphere for there to be more floods and droughts over the next 25 years.
Prof Sir John Beddington said there was a "need for urgency" in tackling climate change.

Rachel Carson's epoch-creating Silent Spring marked the beginnings of the environmental movement in the 1960s, its 'First Wave' peaking at the 1972 Stockholm Conference. The invention of sustainable development by Barbara Ward, along with Rachel Carson the founder of the environmental movement, created an alliance of convenience between First World environmentalism and a Third World set on rapid industrialisation. The First Wave crashed in 1973 with the Yom Kippur War and decade-long energy crisis. Revived by a warming economy of the 1980s, environmentalism found a new, political champion in 1988: Margaret Thatcher. Four years later at the Rio Earth Summit, politics settled the science. One hundred and ninety-two nations agreed that mankind was causing global warming and carbon dioxide emissions should be cut. Rio launched rounds of climate change meetings and summits, with developing nations refusing to countenance any agreement restraining their greenhouse gas emissions - their blanket exemption from the 1997 Kyoto Protocol leading to its rejection by the United States that year, and again twelve years later in Copenhagen. This therefore marked not just the collapse of the climate change negotiations, but something larger - an unprecedented humiliation for the West at the hands of the rising powers of the East.

(
Fast Forward to 26:00 for Andrew Bolt and Craig Emerson Debate)
Attention Craig Emerson, Minister for Trade in the government which gave us the carbon tax.
Last week you claimed I was wrong to say the world hadn’t warmed for 16 years.
So I showed you even the IPCC couldn’t find any measurement showing any statistically significant warming for around that period.
You refused to apologise or retract.
So I showed you an easy-to-read graphic showing no statistically significant warming for between nearly 16 years and 23 years, depending on the measurement used.
You refused to apologise or retract.
Today I will try again. Professor Sinclair Davidson has recalculated the temperature of the past 18 years using HADCRUT3 data and agrees: from 1995 to the present there has been no statistically-significant global warming.
Craig, will you now apologise and retract?

Martian rocks unearthed by a meteorite may contain the strongest evidence yet that there could be life on Mars.
The evidence comes from the McLaughlin crater, created by a meteorite which smashed into the surface of Mars. VoR looks into the chances of extraterrestrial life on Mars.
The study is an attempt to answer one of humanity's age old questions: what is out there? VoR's Tim Ecott spoke to Dr Joseph Michalski, a planetary geologist at London's Natural History Museum, who is one of the co-authors.

WHEN Julia Gillard toured fire ravaged parts of Tasmania on Monday she couldn't resist opportunism - using the calamity to push a climate change agenda.
"As a result of climate change we are going to see more extreme weather events," she said.
But the fact is Australia gets hot in summer - sometimes very hot - and if there is fuel on the ground it will burn. The more fuel, the wilder the fire.
Tasmania is a petri dish, demonstrating the consequences of green ideology run rampant. No jobs, the forestry industry on its knees, and bushfires feasting on fuel built up over two mild fire seasons. Yet, instead of facing up to their errors, the Greens conveniently blame climate change. They pretend imposing a carbon tax or destroying the coal industry will prevent bushfires, while reducing the actual fuel which powers the flames is "futile".
Despite the lessons which should have been learned in Victoria in 2009, the fuel in Tasmania's forests has been allowed to build up because of Green opposition to fuel reduction burns, which they call "outdated, old school" and a "horrible blight".
