I was on Radio 4 PM prog today (Tue Sept 1st) re Summer forecasts and what had been said at end of July.
I pointed out that our WA forecasts were correct for summer and for August in general and the Met Office were being tricky. They include night minima in their measure of warmth and that goes up when its wet. They predicted a 'barbecue summer' which is about sun and high day temps & dryness - predictions for which their forecast failed.
I also read them a limerick sent in to us about the Met office computer:
There was once a computer at Hadley,
Which forecast the weather so badly,
That they gave it more pop
But with each teraflop
It became less accurate, sadly!
The met office is incapable of doing long range forecasts and dishonest and deceitful in its assessment of its own performance.
