ASPEN COLORADO: Hollywood director James Cameron challenged three high profile global warming skeptics to a public debate at a global warming and energy conference. But Cameron backed out of the debate at the last minute after environmentalists "came out of the woodwork" to warn him not to engage in a debate with skeptics because it was not in his best interest.

Cameron challenged Andrew Breitbart, Climate Depot's Marc Morano and filmmaker Ann McElhinney of 'Not Evil Just Wrong.' The debate was already in the program for the Aspen American Renewable Energy Day (AREDAY) summit. The website program described the agreed to debate as “AREDAY Climate Change Debate: Reality or Fiction?"

After setting up the public global warming debate, Cameron and his negotiator then changed formats multiple times and initially said it would be open to the media and then said he would only participate if it was private with no recording devices. The skeptics agreed to all the changes. According to AREDAY organizers, activist Joseph Romm of Climate Progress urged Cameron not to go ahead with the debate as well.

Cameron's cancellation of the agreed to debate did not happen until one debate participant (Morano) was already in mid-air, flying from DC to Aspen on Saturday August 21 to attend the debate. Marc Morano is taking on the climate change movement and eaving a trail of discredited left-wing science in his wake.

Long before “climategate,” Marc Morano viewed the building ysteria for what it was: a house of cards representing the latest and greatest eco-scare. As Morano has pointed out, eco-scares come in cycles, and as each theory is revealed as the output of speculative science, a new cataclysm of the environment is proposed, used by the political sphere to wield power and regulation. According to Morano, the climate fi restorm was created not as a means for climate control but for “human control,” extending to transportation, home energy use and the creation of a carbon dioxide budget, with “the objective being to manage and control human activity in an attempt to live out the fantasy of social engineering.”

An environmentalist his whole career, Morano has spent a long and distinguished career fi ghting for truth in science. He is a former reporter for the nationally syndicated television newsmagazine “American Investigator.” His work included the production of a 2000 television documentary, “Amazon Rainforest: Clear-Cutting the Myths.”

Beginning in 2006, Morano worked for the Republicans in the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public works (EPW), and also managed the EPW website. Morano’s efforts, driving content on the site—including global warming skepticism—earned the coveted Golden Mouse Award in 2007. Despite success, he became frustrated that he could not publish the kind of content he wanted. “There was too much staff division in the Senate, and I wasn’t allowed to go after global warming advocates in a full-fl edged manner,” he explained. Morano even recalls being labeled “unsenatorial” for his aggressive enthusiasm combating the crooked science and deception ushered forth by scientists and politicians alike. He wanted the freedom to publish full reports and open criticism of developing global warming theories.

Physicist Dr. Denis Rancourt, a former professor and environmental science researcher at the University of Ottawa, has officially bailed out of the man-made global warming movement.

In a hard-hitting and exclusive new exclusive video just released by Climate Depot, Dr. Rancourt declares that the entire man-made global warming movement is nothing more than a “corrupt social phenomenon.” “It is as much psychological and social phenomenon as anything else,” Rancourt, who has published peer-reviewed research, explained in a June 8, 2010 essay.

“I argue that by far the most destructive force on the planet is power-driven financiers and profit-driven corporations and their cartels backed by military might; and that the global warming myth is a red herring that contributes to hiding this truth. In my opinion, activists who, using any justification, feed the global warming myth have effectively been co-opted, or at best neutralized,” Rancourt said.

“Global warming is strictly an imaginary problem of the First World middleclass,” he stated.

Environmental censorship

Rancourt’s dissent on man-made climate fears has not set well with many of his fellow green friends. “When I tell environmental activists that global warming is not something to be concerned about, they attack me — they shun me, they do not allow me to have my materials published in their magazines,” Rancourt explained to Climate Depot.

Jay Lawrimore, (chief of climate analysis branch at NOAA's National Climatic Data Center) should be ashamed of himself. (Jay.Lawrimore@noaa.gov) Cherry picking one month out of the Arctic when Arctic ice rebounded significantly in 2009 from the low of 2007. (by an area more than one and half the size of Texas in 2009) Even the low point of Arctic sea ice extent in 2007 was not caused by CO2 driven warming. Multiple peer-review papers found it was due to high pressure days, ocean currents and “unusual winds.”

The government is ignoring the record ice growth in the Antarctic and the fact that global sea ice recently hit a 30 year high.

As for the declaration that we are experiencing the “hottest” year -- this is a purely political statement. Lawrimore knows that these statistics are merely tenths of a degree or less. As the latest meeting of the InterAcademy Council's review into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change convenes in Montreal, IPCC chairman R K Pachauri says the past year has been "momentous" for the organisation, and not always for the right reasons. In this week's Green Room, he sets out how and why the panel was established, and argues that it plays a vital role in the global climate policy debate.

I would like to start by saying that I am not deaf to those who do not agree with the scientific consensus on man-made climate change.

Nor, indeed, to those who do not agree with the findings - or, in some cases, the existence - of the IPCC.

Such scepticism is inevitable, and has been the case with every area of new knowledge that has burst into human consciousness.

We who are on the side of the consensus must remind ourselves that the evolution of knowledge thrives on debate.

The last year has been a momentous one indeed for the IPCC and climate science, and not always for the most welcome of reasons. The discovery of a mistake in our AR4 report - even as we prepared to start work on AR5 - led to considerable controversy.

It was, and is, inevitable that such an incident would lead to criticism and - quite rightly - to both internal and external examination.

However, at times in the last six months it has become apparent that many people either do not know, or have forgotten, what the IPCC actually is: what it was formed to do, who it reports to, and what its current mandate is.

'World News' segment cut skeptic interview from 11 minute to just 10 seconds, then links it with white supremacists.

We’ve all sort of known the media have been in the tank for the global warming alarmist movement. For evidence, look no further than a March 2008 segment that aired on ABC “World News” attacking leading climate skeptic, University of Virginia environmental scientist Professor Emeritus Fred Singer.

And the same culprit behind that 2008 segment, “World News” weekend anchor Dan Harris, was at it again with a piece that aired on May 23 attempting to link climate change skeptics to white supremacists.

But for balance, Harris included a few brief remarks, all of 10 seconds, from Marc Morano of ClimateDepot.com, a news aggregator website Harris called “aggressive.” But the actual interview Harris conducted with Morano was much more extensive and in depth. Throughout the interview, Harris asked Morano questions, but with premises that weren’t necessarily true.

During the back-and-forth, Harris asked Morano about the “threat” from people who challenged global warming skeptics, the validity that ClimateGate was a real scandal, the charges from Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., that ClimateGate exposed fraud, how someone could be skeptical of global warming with such a broad consensus and what Harris deemed as “interesting,” that climate skeptics were susceptible to threats as well. However, 99 percent of that was left out of the segment. What was left out of the ABC News segment? Transcript as follows:
