Campaigners have said the UK will be a "climate criminal" if it allows a new coal-fired power station in Kent. In a letter to climate change minister Ed Miliband, the World Development Movement (WDM) demands the scrapping of plans for Kingsnorth.

The WDM says new coal-fired power stations will increase the impact of climate change on poor countries. The government said it was determined to cut CO2 emissions and no decision has yet been made on Kingsnorth. More than 30 organisations, from countries such as Bangladesh, Brazil, Cambodia, Uganda and Indonesia, have signed the letter.

Good stuff. Maybe more leftwingers should hear the message that Thatcher was instrumental in founding the IPCC. "To hell with Al Gore," they’ll shout, "global warming is a fraud!" They just need a correct excuse.

Forecasters are warning that freezing temperatures will continue tomorrow as the Big Freeze shows no sign of loosening its grip.
Temperatures as low as -10C have turned the country's widespread snow patches into sheets of deadly ice.
Forecasters say the temperature is some rural parts of the country may plunge to a bone chilling -12C overnight.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather alert, warning of widespread icy roads tonight, with another alert issued for Monday warning of the possibility of heavy snow in the south, including London.

This article captures the tone at the hearing. I do not believe Gore was challenged once on science or ecomomics. There appears to be a disconnect betweem DC and Am. Peolple.

Dobbs cited National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration data dating back to 1880 which showed a spike in mean temperature over land and ocean. However, Joseph D’Aleo, the executive director of International Climate and Environmental Change Assessment Project (ICECAP) questioned that data by comparing it to more modern reliable satellite data, when ask if he “quibbled” with the NOAA data’s representation.
“Yes, I do,” D’Aleo replied. “In fact, if you look at the satellite data, which is the most reliable data, the best coverage of the globe – 2008 was the 14th coldest in 30 years. That doesn’t jive with the tenth warmest in 159 years in the Hadley data set or 113 or 114 years in the NOAA set.”

We came across this article from the BBC and expected to see a weather forecast, instead the BBC has gone out of their way to show you a video from the WMO. The WMO say that although we have snow the world is getting warmer. You could not make that up, OK, you could but these are desperate times for the AGW media, and putting up a video from the WMO says it all...look out for the guy in swimming trunks walking in the snow, it's a symbolic attempt to say it's not that cold.
The head of the World Meteorological Organisation has said that global warming does not mean the end of snow. Secretary-General Michel Jarraud, stressed that Europe's current harsh winter could not hide the fact of a rise in global temperatures. He added that this would lead to snow and cold winters becoming more infrequent, but they would not disappear.

Summary: Lou Dobbs again questioned the impact of humans on global warming and suggested that solar activity may be far more responsible for global warming, ignoring the conclusion by the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that "it is extremely likely [>95% chance] that humans have exerted a substantial warming influence on climate" and that this "estimate is likely to be at least five times greater than that due to solar irradiance changes."
