DEATH rates are set to soar “scandalously” this winter as a new Arctic blast batters Britain with temperatures on a par with Siberia.

Experts predict a dramatic increase in cold-related fatalities as we suffer the bitterest winter in a century, causing 12 deaths every hour.

Britons face spiralling energy bills while the death toll this winter could reach 35,000.

There are also fears some mail may not reach its destination by Christmas Day because of the freeze.

Forecasters said temperatures could plummet to record lows in the run-up to Christmas, putting tens of thousands of vulnerable people at risk.

So far it’s been a really cold winter for much of Europe, and so you’d think we’d be due for a little relief. Think again!

Although western Europe will enjoy some milder temps this weekend, it isn’t going to last long. Already next week the bitter cold will be back. This is just the kind of winter weather that not only paralyzes economic activity, but also wreaks havoc on streets and highways – freeze-thaw-freeze cycles that rip asphalt surfaces apart. Expect major damage this winter and huge potholes later on.

Joe Bastardi’s latest video Europe Gets Hit by Extreme Cold is not good news. By Tuesday night the cold will spread over Central and Western Europe. Bastardi:

I am hopeful ( prayerful) that the coming cold wave that will follow what thaw there is in the northwest will have the populace prepared. While it is true I have had a little fun with those that dont see eye to eye with me on the issue of AGW, the coming cold, in the wake of the stress that has already been put on the populace of the northwest part of Europe, is nothing to joke about.

The current cold will shift southeast for a while, before the re-establishment of the cold pool back where it was the past 2 weeks. This will allow for people to have a few days of milder weather in the UK and Ireland. Germany is liable to take the brunt of the whole thing, for while there is a few days of warming in the northwest, the cold shifting southeast centers over them and when it reloads a bit further west it is over them.

While I realize its open for debate, the patterns that are developing are part of what I described would start to happen a few years ago when the combination of oceanic, solar and even seismic cycles( the last one being the biggest wild card) began to take effect. The coming years will tell who is right and who is wrong. The true shame here though is that people were brainwashed into thinking such things could not happen anymore, and its almost dastardly that the ones that did the brainwashing are now claiming its because they were right ( we go from saying it wont occur because of something, to it is occurring because of what was suppose to prevent it from occurring). In any case, it is my sincere hope, that folks in the targeted area do not take this lightly. If I am overdone in some places, all the better. There will be a price to pay in hardship for this, and in studying the whole pattern that is in front of western and northern Europe the next 15 days ( the shot of cold into the south and east comes and goes, but when it comes anew after the new year, it may remain) the bitter pill to swallow for not being prepared for such things is as nasty as the cold itself.

With the aid of this forecast we hope to give some advance warning to those of you who are already suffering hardship and warn you of a very real risk of further and even bigger snow storms and blizzard conditions set for Scotland & England and Eastern Europe NEXT WEEK.

More ice but brief respite this weekend

Our forecasters are predicting the risk of widespread ice over the next couple of days but with prospects for less cold conditions over the weekend.

As less cold air crosses the country overnight and into Thursday, rain or drizzle may fall on frozen surfaces leading to widespread black ice in some parts of the UK.

During Friday and through the weekend, daytime temperatures are expected to reach highs of 8 °C in some places, which will allow a slow thaw of lying snow. However, the cold conditions are expected to return through the new working week.

Met Office Chief Forecaster, Andy Page said: "The UK is not out of the woods as far as the cold weather is concerned. There is a risk of widespread icy conditions tonight and tomorrow, especially across northern parts of the British Isles. Although there is a brief recovery of temperatures over the coming days, cold north easterly winds are expected to bring a return to the cold conditions next week with the risk of snow, especially in the north and east."
