Washington, D.C. – On Fox News this morning, Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, exposed that the Obama administration has failed to comply with the law requiring them to publish in the Federal Register their regulatory agendas. Inhofe, a guest on Fox and Friends, revealed that it has been more than a year since the administration complied with its legal obligation to issue such a report every 6 months. Senator Inhofe announced he has sent a letter to President Obama requesting the administration adhere to its next statutory deadline. As the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, Inhofe expressed specific concerns about EPA’s regulatory agenda.
“As he works to preserve his own job, President Obama is covering up his administration’s job-killing regulatory agenda that he will unleash in a second term,” Senator Inhofe said. “The reason is simple: President Obama has spent the past four years working to kill American energy production of oil, gas, and coal. Today however, President Obama is running as fast as he can from his green energy agenda and trying to convince voters of his love of fossil fuels. Yet a look at the past four years, as well as what he has in the works at the Obama-EPA, reveals a very different story. The last thing President Obama wants to admit to is that his administration is currently actively working to regulate traditional energy resources out of existence. As bad as the economy has sputtered in Obama’s first four years, you haven’t seen anything yet.
If there was no other reason to defeat President Obama in November, it would be the planned destruction of what is left of the U.S. economy by the Environmental Protection Agency.
In “A Look Ahead to EPA Regulations for 2012” the minority staff (Republican) of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works has issued a chilling review of a massive rise in the costs of living for all Americans, massive layoffs in all sectors of the economy, and the destruction of the nation’s energy and manufacturing sectors. The report provides a nightmarish look at the regulations that EPA plans to initiate, having put them under cover prior to Election Day in order to hide President Obama’s agenda of attacking the energy sector and businesses large and small.
Here’s a list of the regulations:
Greenhouse gas regulation via the Clean Air Act: An Ozone rule: Hydraulic Fracturing: Florida’s Numeric Nutrient Criteria: EPA’s water guidance under the Clean Water Act: Stormwater regulation: Tier II Gas regulations: Boiler MACT rule: Cement MACT rule: 316(b) Cooling Tower rule: Coal ash: Farm dust regulation: Spill prevention control and Countermeasure rule
In a primetime special report over the weekend, Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., criticized President Obama for putting his environmental politics ahead of putting Americans back to work.
Inhofe, author of “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future,” explained the White House’s repeated stonewalling of the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would bring crude oil from Canada to refineries in the U.S., is costing jobs
“We have all this capability, not just in producing and exploring, but also the pipelines going through,” Inhofe said. “We have to keep the production in America.”
For the first time in 3 years, the Senate held a hearing on the science of global warming. Inhofe in his opening statement stated: I must say it feels like we're back to the good old days. It may be hard to believe, but it was in February of 2009, during the height of the global warming alarmist movement, that this committee last held a hearing on global warming science. Back then we heard promises from the Obama administration of a clean energy revolution with green jobs propped up by billions in taxpayer dollars to companies like Solyndra. What came of all those promises? The global warming movement has completely collapsed and cap-and-trade is dead and gone.
In his speech today Senator Inhofe pointed out that not even the most committed global warming alarmists can claim that any percentage of the heat over the past few weeks can be attributed to human causes. He detailed a conference call between reporters and a far left environmental group, Climate Communication, which was held for the purpose of spoon-feeding reporters talking points about how to link the hot weather and wildfires over the recent weeks to man-made catastrophic global warming. Yet, even through the scientists on the call were the foremost alarmists in the field, Dr. Michael Oppenheimer and Dr. Steven Running, when pressed neither of them could say if any percentage of today's warm temperatures are due to man-made cause.
The Rio+20 version of "sustainable development" would devastate the world's poor. CFACT rebuked the UN, environmental groups, and Rio+20 delegates for attempting to force their dreadful version of the future on the world.
Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, sent a video message today for CFACT as part of their coverage of the Rio + 20 Sustainable Development Conference. In the video, Senator Inhofe thanked those who made the long trip to Rio to hold the UN accountable for its radical global warming agenda.
The issue of global warming continues to be a fault line in this country and across the world. There are, on the one hand, those who believe, like Al Gore, that the earth is warming to a catastrophic degree, that it is caused by man’s overuse of carbon-based energy, and if we don’t hurry and do something about it we will face the melting of glaciers and ice sheets, biblical flooding, and increased tornadoes and hurricanes. Their holy grail is the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which they cite as confirmation of their theories.
In a recent interview with Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), we discussed his recent book, The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future, in which he documents his personal journey of discovery on this issue—from his early days in politics, as the mayor of Tulsa, to his time as a congressman—from his years in the insurance and oil businesses, and seeing firsthand the heavy hand of the federal government.
In what way is global warming a hoax? Inhofe said, “…I’m talking about MoveOn.org, George Soros, Michael Moore, the Al Gore Hollywood elites, and all that. These are people who really want to believe this, and they have unlimited funds that they pour into campaigns. They brag about having ‘defeated’ people, that they’re able to do, and that’s how they got so much political power. That is where the hoax comes in, because they’re perpetrating a hoax, and that hoax is that catastrophic global warming is taking place in the world now, and it’s due to manmade gases—CO2, carbon, methane, that type of thing—and what they want to do is just shut down this machine called America.”
President Barack Obama recently told Rolling Stone that he plans to make global warming a key part of his re-election campaign, but since American families pay more at the gas pump and more for energy in their homes because of this administration’s policies, we have our doubts.
To be sure, President Obama has many major green “accomplishments” to tout. By imposing backdoor global warming regulations through the EPA, he is fulfilling his 2008 campaign promise that energy prices would “necessarily skyrocket.” By vetoing the Keystone pipeline, he gave the far left what one of his supporters called the “biggest global warming victory in years.” By finalizing the most expensive EPA rule in history, he is making good on his campaign promise that if anybody wants to build a coal-fired power plant they can—“it’s just that it will bankrupt them.” And, he succeeded in throwing hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars out the window on companies like Solyndra, which he said would lead us to a “brighter and more prosperous future.”
The irony, of course, is that through all of these great green “triumphs,” President Obama has presided over the collapse of the global warming alarmist movement. Long gone are the days of the hysteria from the left. When is the last time he or anyone has heard from Al Gore?
