Manhattan Declaration on Climate Change
My apologies in advance to any recipient who has already agreed to be a signatory to the Manhattan Declaration on Climate Change. This is a broadcast message and will inevitably reach some who have already signed.
As you probably heard, The 2008 International Conference on Climate Change in New York City was a gigantic success. One of the most important outcomes of the conference was the production of the Manhattan Declaration on Climate Change (PDF File). Right after the declaration, on page 2 of the Declaration, you will find a form that attendees to the conference who agreed with the declaration completed and signed - we got about 60 right away, I would guess, although I expect to get many more as we now approach them by e-mail.
For non-attendee signatories we have created two categories to make it clear to potential alarmist critics that we are not trying to count non-qualified people (such as me, for instance) as scientists or professional experts.(e.g. economists, engineers, etc). Most of you will qualify as Category 1, and need not say so, but, if like me, you fall into Category 2, please mention in your reply:
- Qualified scientists and associated professional disciplines.
- Concerned citizens of the world.
If you agree with the declaration but would rather your name not be published as endorsing it, we can keep your support confidential and then just boost the total numbers of endorsers by one, but we certainly hope you do allow us to add you to the public list.
We plan to release the signatory list in the coming week once we have collected a good number of qualified endorsers - hope you will be one of
Please feel free to copy thjs email to anyone whom you think subscribes to our viewpoint and would like to support the Declaration.
