Click source to read FULL report from Piers Corbyn and also see recent UK Winter forecasts by "others" (inc. Met Office) who look as if they have got the Very Cold blast WRONG!!!...Well done to Piers Corbyn and WeatherAction.com

This suggests that Piers's "forecasts" are more accurate than the Daily Express. Well, I will concede that this may sometimes be true. (except the Express's coldest May for 100 years fail).
No mention of mild weather on the MetOffice website. So no "Battle of Britain" in sight yet...

The Met Office are currently saying this has been the coldest autumn
in the UK for 19 years.
We are on course this year to be the second coldest since 1996.
So despite the predicted 'beast' not materializing here it's still going to be pretty nippy overall.

Thanks for posting CR!
The 'Beast from East' idea follows very well from the standard Meteorology forward projection and was put on Paul Hudson's (BBC) site**. The Express were quoting fair interpretation of those projections by Meteorologists.
For Et and fellow-travelling nihilists (who can forecast nothing) to attempt to hide this failing of Met Office/standard models by saying it was 'The Express' forecast is disingenuous.
For interested people who want to know the nitty-gritty of why our WeatherAction long range forecast worked while standard Met failed see the statement** I put on our European forecast for December which was that the Scandinavian High would not be a major feature this December but cold low(er) pressure pools in Scandinavia / N Europe would be more important. This is happening.
The WeatherAction 30day Euromaps Pressure scenario forecasts for December are also available - yes there now - to subscribers to WeatherAction 15-45day forecasts. (subscribe now to get these maps and the Jan forecast comes around Dec 15)
