You may have noticed that the Proton flux chart I used yesterday had the start of a steep rise, and as you can see from the latest chart above it has peaked and fallen in a short space of time. What you may not have known was that the European Jet Stream has relocated below the UK. The question now remains as to when will it reposition itself?
There are about four days to go before the next major "R" period (R5), that starts around the 19th December, and if in that time frame the Jet Stream relocates across or above the UK, the cut off low could be a repeat of the one that happened in early November.
There was devastating effect of the "cut off low" over Europe last time, as a result of the solar enhancement from another R5 period, lets hope there is not the same situation again...more to follow.
