There is a document on his website where the accuracy of weather action forecasts are analysed. They also have about six months of old WA forecasts. You can download these and compare to the same month's weather on the Met office web site.
I do think Piers is onto something with his SWT- he may not get it right all the time- and have the odd howler, but over the last few years his seasonal forecasts have been FAR better than the met office! ANd with minimal resources to cast the fore compared with our beloved tax payer funded global warming propaganda machine. Interestingly from this article we learn that he uses the effect of solar particles on the jet stream as the basis for weather forecasts. Now that is something that could be mathematically calculated.
As an aside, from the sound of his voice - poor old Piers seems to have a bad cold/bout of the man flu- maybe thats why he didn't rip into the weather man so much and forgot to say that AGW is a false theory. Piers under the weather. Get well soon, old chap!
