BRITS were left high and dry last night after conflicting weather fore-casts predicted a summer scorcher AND a washout.
Expert Jonathan Powell says June, July and August will break high temperature records.
He reckons we should prepare to slap on the sun cream as temp- eratures soar above 30C (86F).
But, as we reported on Monday
, long-range forecaster Piers Corbyn has told Brits to expect a rain-filled few months.
And the Met Office admitted they have no idea what summer holds.
Mr Powell, of forecasters Positive Weather Solutions, said yesterday: “For summer 2010 we’re in for the lion’s share of better weather.
“There will be some high temperatures, and top temperature records may fall in August.
“This summer may even feature in the top five warmest summers on record.”
But Mr Corbyn, of WeatherAction, said temperatures would range from average to “pretty lousy”.
And he broke the news that there would be severe bouts of rain, which will ruin hopes of a barbecue summer.
Mr Corbyn said: “It might be humid and muggy at times but we’re certainly not in for massive amounts of sunshine.
“We will just have to prepare ourselves for a bit of a dull one. You’ll need a stiff upper lip, a holiday abroad and a brolly.”
Meanwhile, the Met Office – who last year predicted a scorcher of a summer when it turned out to be wet – were staying tight-lipped.
A spokesman said: “Members of the public told us they wanted a monthly outlook. We don’t do seasonal forecasts any more.”
Forget hot summer, it's a washout
report by Daily Mirror - this uses an unkind term for Piers Corbyn, and that is, "rogue forecaster"! So if you disagree with "Man Made Climate Change" your a "rogue"!
I will not even try and say what I think of this remark, lets hope he sues them for using it.
