The TWO Quakes this morning (17th ut) are now listed as M6.7 and M6.8 quakes. They were the biggest quakes around the world since the 12th, the tail of after effects from Indonesia 11th and therefore a pretty good confirmation of extra activity in this period 16-17th. See also WeatherAction notes:

The 'solar kick'theory is most intriguing. Many times we are told 'not earth facing - no effect', which I read in the paper today, yet we are being affected. Now if only you could link this theory to greenhouse gases then you would be an instant media fame. But then again you'd have to make a failed prediction and scaremonger for that to work ;)

I think of the "solar kick" in terms of action/re-action

One part of the Sun does one thing another part does something else!

The effect could be that an Earth facing area on the Sun sends out other particles whilst activity is going on in another loction, it must be something like that otherwise how do you account for the changes we see.

There have been far to many "hits" when these non facing areas happen

Lots going on! Notes:

1. The trial predictions are for major events in their own right &/or significant events compared to background of quakes whatever that is at the time.

2. The 16-17th although 'only an R3' had to be - and was - pretty dramatic to show up against the suddenly enhanced background following the giant Indonesia hits ~8-10th which came on morning of 11th (Utc). It might be argued that therefore the ~22-24th will be more dramatic.

3. I DO SAY Earth facing coronal holes which SLAT7 has labelled as quake active should lead to quakes - call them QCHs. However note
a) there are many (usually smaller) CH which are not important.
b) Different CH have different magnetic (invisible) structures and when you see a pair only one of them might be the key driver.
c) There are other drivers of quakes apart from CH but for the non CH effects it is also, probably but not exclusively, the case that they are most effective when Earth-facing.
d) The CMEs associated with CH and active regions may not all be very important for quakes; certainly it seems the VERY FAST ejections - rather than the main material hits in mass terms which come later - are most important.

Many thanks for your explanations. I could never quite understand how it worked - especially the CME's - but that makes sense regarding hemispheres and speeds. It will make following events much more interesting.

At the end of the month it would be worth adding what the probability of being chance is (pre-empting the 'random' accusations). Speaking of which would it be worth adding a random prediction as a placebo?

The attacks:

(i) FAIL to point out that our forecasts also explicitly say that we also expect on average results within a day either side (at shorter odds)

(ii) FAIL - and this is really dishonest from a so-called expert - to point out that big quakes occur in bunches so his probability of getting at least one event in a day or short period is LOWER than he claims.

(iii) FAIL to admit the big quakes concerned were in the right hemisphere - near the equator yes but on the North side as we said was more likely. He pretends they were on the wrong side - very dishonest. He is probably hoping to avoid the question which considerably cuts the odds of success by chance.

(iv) FAIL to assess more than one (of our forecast) events. Assessment by ONE event which has been cherry-picked to be (almost) wrong is pathetic.

(v) FAIL to assess the proper JOINT probabilities of these events AND Earth-facing Coronal holes or active regions AND being in one hemisphere AND etc.
Note the success of earth-facing CH has been high but sometimes we get active regions instead (like now) which we also generally warn of. This is still a learning activity btw!

(vi) FAIL to report on actual results over a period of time - which do show skill.

One wonders how this arrogant Green churl mentioned will deal with this 'hit' today 21st which is good being in the Southern hemisphere where there are on average reportedly less quakes. Will he carry a regular unbiased report of these trials OR better still have bets with us using independent assessors??

I have made two comments on the site of Libel mentioned above but since the site is moderated I am not sure what is happening. One seems to have appeared instantly but the other is 'awaiting moderation', bizarre.

The above claim by Dean Morrison is a LIE. We never made such claims about 'very Major' or indeed ANY earthquakes in Britain and Ireland for then or ever, they are about world risk of major quakes - just bother to read the actual trial forecasts it is clear to even a complete fool they are not about low risk regions.

So WITHDRAW THIS MALEVOLENT LIE - THIS LIBELOUS CLAIM - FORTHWITH or the matter will be taken further.

As to the Moon we well understand the nature of the moon, sir, but you make very foolish remarks. You don't need to be magnetized to have an affect on the wind blowing at you do you? Tell me does the wind blow THROUGH your car at 70mph when you drive at 70mph? Is there no wake behind your? Come on wise up. Just stop lie-ing

The problem you have is that our Solar Lunar Action Technique actually works and has proven significant skill for long range weather forecasting, see (including peer-reviewed publications)

Morrison also claims I 'ran way' when he asked me other questions. Actually I did answer his questions. I then either ignored or didn't see ongoing ignorant nonsense he may have put forward.

Of course whether or not what is happening and why our technique works is known or understood by Morrison or Klemetti or anyone is totally irrelevant. We know it works and we do not understand all that is going on. We know eggs can turn into chickens I don't know how but because of the lack of understanding of the matter I don't deny that eggs do turn into chickens (often).

SO CONTINUING, EK WILL YOU HAVE BETS WITH US on the trial forecasts in our R(Q)4 and R(Q)5 trial windows under three headings (i) the narrow windows (ii) those plus half a day each side (iii) those plus one day each side?
These boundaries were discussed a month or so ago on CR site.
These trials have no necessary bearing on what may or may not happen outside these trial windows and no extension to other periods with half assumed theories has any validity. We do NOT claim to predict all extreme quakes but are running trials for a certain set of ideas which do not need to be known to be tested.
I say this because the likes of you and your sidekicks will I daresay produce their own 'forecasts' based on invalid suppositions about what we say in order to attack our testable work.

PS I find it bizarre that EK's site moans that WeatherAction asks people to pay for the quake forecasts when we tax-payers (USA+UK) are largely paying for the Arrogant Community of Inadequate Science (ACIS) which he perceives as being threatened by our trials (yes that's all they are) at forecasting Quakes and Volcanoes (from a shoe box near London Bridge).
Nevertheless just for information the numbers who actually pay for quake (Extreme events Rest Of World) forecasts is small. They are given at no extra charge with the B+I 45day and Euro maps forecasts and I think people who do pay for them do it to support the work. I thank them and all who also subscribe* to our other forecasts, without whom we would not be having this conversation.
