SCOTLAND will be colder than the ARCTIC this weekend — as a Bank Holiday big freeze bites.
Seaside resorts warned of multi-million pound losses across Britain as temperatures plunge to -5°C (23°F).
But thousands of skiers are set for a bumper out-of-season boost at Cairngorm and Glencoe, in Inverness-shire.
Snow started to fall in areas as low as 100 metres yesterday. The Met Office warned frost would grip many areas this morning, as the mercury dipped to -2°C (28°F). Lows of -5°C were predicted for the Central Belt.
Forecaster Brian Gaze, of The Weather Outlook, said: “Skiing looks like a better prospect than sunbathing this weekend.”
