During the earthquake of magnitude 5.9 that struck the Emilia Romagna region in the last May 20, someone associated with the event telluric annular eclipse of the Sun a few hours earlier, suggesting a possible correlation.
Although science has made enormous steps forward in our knowledge, there are still many beliefs that we dare to define medieval on these phenomena.
Once the eclipse of the moon, but also the passage of comets, transits or explosions of supernovas (exploding stars), were associated with omens of misfortune, calamity or messages of the gods.
In the presence of these events were organized during which rites were carried out real human sacrifices in honor of the local God.
At the present day, we know that all this is pure madness, and we can not make the mistake of believing in something contrary to scientific laws now taken. There are many cases where it is not possible to explain a phenomenon through a methodical and rigorous, but there are many others where the opposite is true.

If the annular eclipse of the Sun of May 20 last year, our natural satellite has found the greatest distance from Earth, which is why its smaller apparent size did not allow full coverage of our star, revealing a ring Fire in the sky.
The tidal force on that occasion was extremely low, precisely for the reasons just mentioned, it is therefore impossible that the eclipse was able to trigger the earthquake.
A few days before, the world has been fascinated by superluna, a term commonly used to define the Lunar Perigee.
At this juncture our only natural satellite was at the minimum distance from Earth, tidal forces at play were much more evident, so that in some places in the world there have been variations of the tides extremely important.
It was the perfect opportunity to unleash earthquakes of some importance, and yet nothing has happened that is relevant.
The explanation lies in the fact that earthquakes are endogenous phenomena, that is internal to the Earth.
Occur for the movement of the earth's crust, caused by the sudden movement of a mass of rock in the subsoil, and are not affected by solar system bodies.
The tidal effects of planetary objects are too weak to trigger a full-scale earthquake event, and indeed, it is absolutely proven to be too small to produce energy to do so.
Besides the seismic events recur on a daily basis, for which the probability that an event occurs at the same instant telluric of a celestial phenomenon, is very high.
If we considered then as the time frame adjacent days, then it is very hard not to detect earthquakes near the occurrence of a celestial phenomenon.
Another point against the theory of planetary earthquakes, is that the eclipses are visible from all over the globe, but have a cone of shadow.
Theoretically, the earthquake should occur in close proximity to the area where the resultant force should overlap.
It was hypothesized that differences between the illuminated and shaded area causes a significant imbalance and make sure that you create an earthquake in the immediate vicinity of the cone of shadow.
In fact, it has never been found no correlation, so that the eclipse of May 20 occurred in other places in the world than Emilia Romagna and Italy, and the examples are taken as a reference only a portion of the eclipse or alignments occurred.
From the scientific point of view, the strength of gravity depends on the value of the masses involved and inversely proportional to the square of the distance separating the two bodies.
When there is a planetary alignment, as the case of transit of Venus across the Sun for the next 5 to 6 June, should changes occur very weak gravitational equilibrium, due to a superposition of forces.
But science has never found a cause-effect on these phenomena in relation to earthquakes, for which there are only guesses not confirmed by the data.
Moreover, if we consider the mass of Venus in relation to its distance, we would notice how the influence would be negligible to say the least.
Today we know that the tidal stress is inversely proportional to the cube of the distance, for which calculations have now cleared that science knows and can not be neglected.
In the past the transit of Venus across the Sun was observed by many explorers who have never told of seismic events such as to cause tragedies recorded in history.
The only obstacles that you know are the wars, bad weather and possible miscalculations due to the approximation of the time.
We can be assured that if the next 5 to 6 June a major earthquake were to occur in some areas of the world, had absolutely no event will the transit of Venus across the Sun, but only and exclusively to the physical laws that allow any seismic day of the year.
It remains only to admire a rare astronomical phenomenon, which since time immemorial has fascinated countless people of Earth.
