Phil Jones, the disgraced former director of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, admitted in an interview with BBC News that "the vast majority of climate scientists" do not believe the debate over global warming is over. Politicians ranging from President Barack Obama, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and former vice president Al Gore regularly claim "the debate is over."

Jones, gatekeeper for temperature data for the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, is among the world's most prominent scientists asserting humans are creating a global warming crisis.

In an interview published by BBC News, Jones was asked, "When scientists say 'the debate on climate change is over,' what exactly do they mean-and what don't they mean?" Jones responded, "I don't believe the vast majority of climate scientists think this. This is not my view."

As Congress debates global warming legislation that would raise energy costs to consumers by hundreds of billions of dollars, The Heartland Institute is about to publish an 880-page book challenging the scientific basis of concerns that global warming is either man-made or would have harmful effects.

In “Climate Change Reconsidered: The 2009 Report of the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC),” coauthors Dr. S. Fred Singer and Dr. Craig Idso and 35 contributors and reviewers present an authoritative and detailed rebuttal of the findings of the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), on which the Obama Administration and Democrats in Congress rely for their regulatory proposals.

U.S. Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) and scientist Arthur Robinson, who has assembled a list of more than 31,000 U.S. scientists skeptical of global warming alarmism, in separate keynote speeches at the 2009 International Conference on Climate Change rebuked global warming alarmists for hypocrisy and inconsistent predictions of doom.

The two also pointed out embarrassing inconsistencies in Al Gore’s popular movie, An Inconvenient Truth.

The conference, produced by The Heartland Institute and 60 cosponsors, attracted some 700 scientists, economists, and policy experts to confront the question, “Global Warming: Was it ever really a crisis?”

Willie Soon, a Harvard University astrophysicist and geophysicist with scores of peer-reviewed papers and books to his credit, said he is “embarrassed and puzzled” by the shallow science in papers asserting the Earth faces a climate crisis caused by global warming.

Soon told the second International Conference on Climate Change on March in New York City, “We have a system [of peer reviewing scientific literature] that is truly, truly appalling.”

Soon’s criticisms echoed an earlier presentation at the 2-1/2-day conference that was attended by about 700 scientists, economists, and policymakers considering the issue of “Global Warming: Was it ever really a crisis?”
