Event Invitation - Understand Climate Science Before Making Climate Policy

Legislation and regulation aimed at controlling greenhouse gas emissions are predicated on the belief that science definitively shows that man's greenhouse gas emissions are causing the Earth's temperature to rise, with serious deleterious effects.

What if the cause-and-effect relationships between GHGs and temperature are greatly overstated? What if the data used to measure temperature change and its effects are of poor quality? What if we don't adequately understand important climatic systems (such as clouds or oceans) to simulate them accurately in the computer models used to predict climatic change? What if the stated positions of key scientific societies are under assault by the member rank and file? What if the state of empirical knowledge points to only a small human effect on climate? What if the best scientific information we have does not justify the economic costs associated with proposed legislation and regulation?

The answers to these questions directly impact the legislative and regulatory debates underway in the Congress and the Obama Administration.

On May 14, Dr. William Happer and Dr. Roger Cohen will review key features of climate science.

Dear All

The attached pdf is my last entry and if you have any chance of giving that some publicity I would be most appreciative.

Having heard all sides of all of the arguments, it is clear that nobody has a clue about how our atmosphere works. You would not believe the nonsensical information that has been thrown into the various arguments.

Ad hominem attacks of the severest nature by fellow so-called skeptics have proven to be as disgraceful as similar attacks by alarmists.

Also, it appears that nobody understands the difference between cause and effect anymore, routinely switching them over.

Best of luck with the fight against the insanity that has taken over the world of politics as well as academia.

Exaggerated Warming in Western Australia by Calem Smith

I've noticed that BOM uses different stations for measuring annual
mean temperature then what stations they use for daily and monthly
readings.

There seems to be a few more used for the annual stations then daily.

The thing that has my curiosity is that, would placing greater stations in areas of greater warming effect the rate of graphed
warming?

I've put it all into one image with each map layered over each other and noticed an imbalance.

Not to mention a station missing in the only place to have a negative trend.

You may have heard of Peter Spencer, the desperate Australian farmer who went on a hunger strike to draw attention to the fact that government bans on clearing vegetation had stolen his assets and destroyed his business. Peter is just one of many Australian farm families reduced to desperation and even suicide by seizure or sterilisation of their land to satisfy the voracious green god.

The most massive injustice occurred a couple of years ago, when, as a sacrifice to the Kyoto god, the federal government conspired with state governments to ban vegetation clearing on all property, even freehold. This was done in an underhand way to allow the government to seize carbon credits from landowners without paying compensation.

Many well meaning people, while not happy with the tactics and the refusal to pay compensation for property seized or devalued, think that there will be some environmental or climate benefits to come from all this.

Generally there are none.

Keith Briffa pulled from Wikipedia? Updated with comments by Luboš Motl

Hello Everyone,

I just tried to find University of East Anglia researcher Keith Briffa on Wikipedia, and he was no where to be found! The following cached page was available through Yahoo: (withdrawn/not found)

It sugests that he must have been removed because of his association with ClimateGate. Apparently Wikipedia does not want to make it easy to research the principle players in this scandal and learn the details of their involvement.

It is a scandal in itself when a supposedly neutral reference is so deliberately obstructive and biased.

US Weather Bureau Report: Arctic Ocean Getting Warm: Seals Vanish And Iceburg Melt

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.
