ALAN JONES is just the latest victim of a new war on free speech.
Of course, just saying "Alan Jones" will make the traditional free-speech poseurs relax.
What do they care about Jones?
About as much as they care about the Gillard Government's media inquiry into newspapers too critical of Labor and the Greens.
Last year Jones, the 2GB broadcaster, aired three segments criticising the NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change for hounding farmers who'd cleared native vegetation.
In a normal society you'd say Jones is entitled to his crusades. If you don't like it, turn off.
Switch to any number of other outlets to hear the green take on such things, from the ABC to Sky News, from the Crikey gossip website to Channel 10's The Project, from The Age to the Big Issue. No problem. A million voices out there these days. Pick what suits. Ah, but there is a problem. Two, in fact.
