“Follow the money” was deep throats advice to the investigators of the Watergate cover up. In the investigation of the Earth’s weather we must ‘follow the energy’ and that may lead to an unexpected result. For those of us who have had classical scientific training and situational awareness of a broad range of current data, the AGW hypothesis is an easily dismissed hoax.
The reader should make an objective review the previously posted de-bunking articles on the numerous scientific errors in the man made climate change debate. Our weather system is only the final expression of universal energy transfers. What happens on the thin membrane of the surface of our planet is like smoke is to fire. The smoke can tell you things about the fire but does not control the behavior of the fire. Political mandates to control a tiny portion of this smoke are therefore meaningless.
The energy that controls our weather comes from two nuclear sources, the Earth’s internal fission and the fusion of the Sun. The fission of an atom of Uranium-238 in the Earth’s mantle is just the first in a series of fission ‘decay chain’ reactions. Wikipedia lists fourteen decay reactions that can come from this single atom decay. The half-life of these fission products range from 1.2 minutes to 4.5 billion years. This means that a lot of these intermediate, called ‘daughter atoms’ also break down quickly which contributes heat and high velocity particles which trigger fission reactions in adjoining Uranium atoms.
Given no outside influence these chain reactions may fluctuate but will consistently reduce over time. However, the Earth’s geologic history does not reflect a linear reduction that supports that theory. There can only be one external force that can make dramatic adjustments in the Earth’s fission rate. Understanding this force will provide a startling realization of our place in the Universe.
Nuclear reactions produce several types of high velocity particles, which can trigger additional nuclear reactions. Most important for geo-nuclear climate theory is one of these particles. The Neutrino is a massless, electrically neutral particle capable of penetrating the atmosphere and Earth’s crust. We are bombarded daily by Neutrinos from three sources. Direct solar Neutrinos come from fusion deep within the Sun and can take 100,000 years to emerge and radiate to Earth. Sunlight takes eight minutes to reach us but these slightly slower particles take thirty minutes.
Solar flares produce high velocity protons which break down atmospheric Nitrogen, which then showers the planet with atmospherically produced Neutrinos. Galactic sources produce Neutrinos directly and thru cosmic rays similar to solar flares. These particle showers then control the Earth’s internal nuclear reactions, in effect controlling our thermostat.
The Sun, with a magnetic field that extends to Pluto does exert enormous force on Earth’s magnetic field. But viewed from a cosmic perspective this is a minor force. Unknown forces cause fluctuation in the Sun’s magnetic field and are the cause of solar flares. Our solar system is part of a small cluster galaxy that is plunging thru one of the arms of the far greater Milky Way Galaxy. We are treated daily to Neutrinos and cosmic ray bombardment from across the Universe with its billions of Galaxies.
Sometimes an analogy is the only way to explain complex relationships. Suppose mankind is just an amoeba colony, in a water filled crawfish hole, on the edge of the great Universal Swamp. This amoeba colony has just discovered that there is an increase in turbidity, which is reducing the clarity of the water in our crawfish hole. Obviously it is our fault and something must be done. However there are amoebas among us that can see the swamp outside our hole. We can imagine the number of causes in the swamp from wind, to rain and to wave actions, which can have impact on our crawfish hole water quality. The thinking amoeba wants to focus on solving realistic issues.
Our Sun does a remarkable job of stabilizing its little solar system. Galactic and Intergalactic cosmic rays constantly alter the Sun’s surface and magnetic field. Due to changes in distance and axis orientation the Earth is subject to a 6.9% variation in solar radiation annually. But the Sun, when shaded by a sunspot, produces an accompanying flare, and this offsets the predicted loss. When measured from space, the SOHO satellites from NASA have measured only a 0.1% variation in solar output in thirty years. This consistency is the reason for the term ‘Solar Constant’ and reason to question the solar-atmospheric energy storage hypothesis.
The Universe has no restrictions on its abuse of power and can overwhelm humanity, the Earth or the Sun with no regard. We may soon be faced with the realization that we are temporal beings in an indifferent reality. We have very real problems to solve. Reducing energy consumption is a noble and achievable goal. Reducing atmospheric carbon dioxide levels is a frivolous waste of our limited resources.
Voltaire said, “Man is but a reed blowing in the wind, but he is a thinking reed” and it is time for mankind to grow up. A thinking reed may know he’s a reed and may know about wind. But in the end, a thinking reed knows he is powerless to control the wind. The single most important issue we face is to correct the massive government corruption and it’s incestuous relationship with the science community that has produced the AGW movement.
